...I'm just going to spam this post with pictures of stuff that I've done over the past few weeks since the last post. Less talk, more pictures!

A whole 4kg stuffed roast turkey on Xmas!

Chocolate chip cookie brownies (Choc chip layer below, combined with brownie layer on top) Super sinful!

Red Velvet Cake with cream cheese frosting for NYE!

Simple angel food cake

And the highlight of this post. Bakerella's Pop cupcakes as requested by WS for her birthday!!

Choc cake rolled into balls

Then shaped into "cupcakes" after refrigeration

Dipped in chocolate first, lollies stuck in

Then dipped in milk chocolate (top), heart sprinkles & M&M on top

Closeup of the Chupa Chup like cupcakes

I'm going to take a slight hiatus from baking now. I'll be back soon though! Watch this space!

The Tiramisu Odyssey

This post is dedicated to the Chen family _caramelfudge and weiantheman and unprompted and Weijie (I don't have her LJ :( ) who are currently gallivanting in Europe somewhere..Italy..Roma...wherever they are!

I made Tiramisu! due to the fact that I have found baker's heaven (Phoon Huat) and am severely tempted to go back again and again and again.

enough said about that, it's all about the food.

Gather all the ingredients!

Make the kopi (no sugar)

about 250-400ml of whipping cream and whip it (I decided to use whipping cream instead of eggs simply because I ran out of eggs. FML and it's quite hazardous I feel to use raw eggs...I mean..oh whatever)

Whip the cream until stiff.

Next take 500g of Mascarpone, about 1/2 cup sugar..notsurehowmuch Kahlua (or rum, brandy whatever you choose). I admit I went a bit heavy handed on the Kahlua..heh heh

OK I admit at this point I licked some off the bowl..oops

Next combine this with the already stiff whipped cream

Mix together, and there's your cheese mixture

Lay the tin with Savoiardi biscuits (of course, first dipped quickly in the coffee) I didn't take pics of those, c'mon! I don't have so many hands

Then on top goes the cheese mix

Another layer of Savoiardi and cheese, then dust with good cocoa..

A bit heavy handed on the cocoa too, I know. Doesn't matter

There were some leftovers (Savoiardi and mascarpone mix so I made a small container batch)

Just put them in the fridge. Should be able to nomnomnom on it tomorrow! Hope it's good!

Hello all,

this is my story about a rainbow cake.

Decided on a whim a few days ago to bake a rainbow cake just for kicks. This entry is dedicated to the last hour I've just spent whipping eggs flour and colouring into submission.

All pictures taken with my Nokia E71, lazy to whip out the 350D...heck it.

Dump all ingredients into mixing bowl.

Whip everything using electric beater...

Looking real smooth already..

Took out the newly bought gel colours! Decided to use six, namely Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Violet (in that order)

Then I split the mixed cake mix into 6 batches. Mixing the red (pardon the hairy arms)

Now the orange...(on a sidenote the colours are damn beautiful aren't they??)

Strange Mickey Mouse spotted

Yellow now!

Green...(I tell you I spent shitloads of time and sweat whipping the colouring. Damn tiring! But colours so vibrant!)

Blue now! Sky Blue to be exact

Violet now! Finally!

Finally all the damn whipping is finished. Must have sweated a pint. (not into the mix of course)

Pouring the first colour Red into the springform pan

Yes yes I'm going to skip talking and just upload the rest. Orange Yellow Green Blue Violet

Done! I send it into the oven, 160C for 30mins.

Now we wait. I'm not sure how it's going to turn out because I have NEVER. baked a rainbow cake before. I'm not quite sure I got the proportions right (of the basic sponge cake) so wish me luck!!!!!!! Will update later of the final product. I'm still deciding whether to ice the whole thing or not......*crosses fingers*

EDIT: Update at 12mn
The final product, sliced up, inside, and stuffed in a box for tomorrow's breakfast (Still quite pissed the top split open)

And finally, my camera couldn't take the psychedelic colours no longer and conked out this picture

Tomorrow's breakfast. Should be good with tea (I ate a slice already) :)

I've tried my best not to look at you but I always seem to be able to see you everywhere.

I think I've fallen deeply, deeply in love with you.Collapse )

okay that's it.

Andrew Chen's debut album YOU JUST MIGHT

Hi all, please help to listen and support my great pal Andrew Chen's debut album, You Just Might. It is a bloody brilliant album. The guy is just nineteen!!! Best part is, he is coming down to Singapore in March 2010 for Mosaic Music Fest (and I might be filling in on bass! tough)

Support, okay? At least listen to it! 4/5 stars (he'll get his final star when I get my autographed copy...HAHA)!

an end to the darfur atrocities.

What is that?

To those of us who are sometimes irritated with our parents, this video is for you!

Take a minute (or five) to watch this video, a strong and crushing message!

back in the ussr singapore version

What a fun song to sing! And I changed 'round all the placenames for kicks.

Flew in from Changi Airport Terminal 3
Didn't get to bed last night
On the way the paperback was on my knee
Man, I had a dreadful flight
I'm back in Bukit Panjang
You don't know how lucky you are, boy
Back in the Bukit Panjang, yeah

Been away so long I hardly knew the place
Gee, it's good to be back home
Leave it till tomorrow to unpack my case
Honey disconnect the phone

I'm back in Bukit Panjang
You don't know how lucky you are, boy
Back in the Bukit
Back in the Bukit
Back in the Bukit Panjang

Well the Orchard girls really knock me out
They leave Jurong West behind
And Raffles girls make me sing and shout
That Bukit Timah's always on my mi mi mi mi mi mi mi mi mind
Oh, come on

I'm back in the Bukit Panjang
You don't know how lucky you are, boy
Back in the Bukit Panjang

Well the Tampines girls really knock me out
They leave Jurong East behind
And Queenstown girls make me sing and shout
That Sentosa's always on my mi mi mi mi mi mi mi mi mind

Oh, show me round Bukit Timah Hill way down south
Take me to Lim Chu Kang
Let me hear you balalaika's ringing out
Come and keep your comrade warm

I'm back in the Bukit Panjang
you don't know how lucky you are, boy
Back in the Bukit Panjang
